Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder is putting together an album of original music for buddy Sean Penn's upcoming movie Into the Wild. Vedder previously contributed individual tracks for Penn's 1995 film Dead Man Walking and covered The Beatles' "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" for I Am Sam.
Into the Wild is a true story based on one young man's decision upon graduation from Emory University to give all his worldly possessions to charity and hitchhike to Alaska to live in the wilderness. The story follows the characters and footnotes that he meets on the way.
Vedder and Pearl Jam have always had a special place in movies following their bit acting parts and song contributions to the 1992 movie Singles. Pearl Jam also agreed contribute their rare "Whale Song" to an independent movie.
Pearl Jam also garnered a Golden Globe nomination for their song "Man of the Hour" which appeared in the 2003 movie Big Fish.
